I awoke to a very different world then the one I feel asleep in, apparently while I slept the apocalypse came, including zombies, and some how I'd become one, but scientists had developed an injection that brought back the sentient being that the zombie had been, it also helped their bodies regenerate most decay; though they hadn't figured out limbs yet, and luckily I had most of my parts, so I woke up in a post apocalyptic world as a sentient zombie, since my heart was not beating, i guess scientists hadn't got that far yet. the surroundings I had awoken too were however quite familiar to me the slightly different due to what ever had happened during my lapse in memory, I had awoken at camp in the blue ridge mountains that I had worked so many summers at. Humans had begun reclaiming much of what had been lost in the zombie awakening, though most had forgotten the ways of the old world, and when I found an old US flag and promptly folded I got some odd looks from others in the group. I guess it had been a few generations. since as far as I could tell I was the only neo-human (as they called me) in the group. so I was the only one that remembered back that far. our group consisted of about 9 people, 6 guys and 3 girls, and then me, mostly a pleasant bunch though i could sense some hesitation from two or three of them on account of I had been a flesh eating automaton before having my sentience restored. on our way back to the vehicle that they'd arrived in, one of the girls that was about the same age I'd been (I had no idea how old I was now, not knowing what year it was and all), seemed to take a liking to me, and asked me alot of questions about the old world as they called it. so I told her as much as I could remember. when we got to it seemed that some of us would be hanging on to the outside of the vehicle. it ended up being me and the girl[i don't think I ever got her name =/ ] on one side, and two of the guys on the other. [or any names for that matter] she and I ended up climbing on top of the vehicle, the vehicle being what looked like an old jeep Cherokee. we drove from the camp to what I'm pretty sure used to be Virginia Tech, apparently a base of sorts, or more acuratly a refugee camp, had been established there. the girl and I quickly became friends, usually not far from each other, i did alot of research, mostly about what I'd missed over the years, and what might have happened to my family. I began to try and integrate myself back into society, though many where hesitant about me due to me being a neo-human, there where a few of us in the camp but this region seemed to have very few, I leaned there where certain conditions that had to exist for one to receive the injection, though what they are I wasn't told, so I was just grateful I'd had whatever they where looking for, while in a bar one time, there was what appeared to me to be a football game on television, though I wasn't sure. the girl asked how the players where picked and that it looked like fun, my reply was in the old days players where selected in a draft and there where a bunch of teams across the nation, i dunno how its done now. so we just sat back and watched. Dispite the resentment from some I made a number of friends and was living fairly happily. after some time the girl and some friends and I made the trip to Lynchburg to see if we could find anything about my family, we passed the outskirts of Roanoke to find it in ruins, deciding against investigating and continued on the old roads to Lynchburg, which we found when we got there was in a similar state but not as bad, eventually finding our way to my house, I was saddened to find no sign of what happened, though I did find that my car was still there and after some work we got it running again, we never made it back though, cause about then I woke up.
~this is a dream I had last night, I decided to post it here. any insight into the dream is welcome, and no I've never played left 4 dead
